HRH , The Princess Royal officially opens our education buildings

What an accolade it has been to have two of our buildings officially opened by HRH The Princess Royal!  The new Poulson and Gentry buildings at East Norfolk Sixth Form College in Gorleston have been named after Laurie Poulson, former Head of the College and Anita Gentry, former Head of the Arts Faculty.

The presentations took place in the college canteen, another building that was also designed by us and completed last year.   Her Royal Highness was very impressed by the quality of the energy efficient buildings we have created for the college, the range of subjects on offer and the state of the art facilities.

The Poulson Building comprises sixteen classrooms with a further seven classrooms in the Gentry Building teaching block.  Both feature natural ventilation systems and combined heat and power generation, offering a practical, cost-effective energy-efficient solution to the college's needs.  These are also good looking buildings with their 'brise soleil' and wind catcher chimneys, adding value to both the experience of life at the college and to the college's property portfolio!

Our Norfolk Open Studios event has been a resounding success with over 600 visitors over the three weekends of opening, despite the cloudy weather.  The Walled Garden Artists had a great time meeting everyone and giving displays of their sculpting in different media as well as achieving over £6,000 worth of sales.  And most importantly, all our visitors thoroughly enjoyed the magical atmosphere of the Walled Garden and especially our home made teas! One group of visitors told us that ours was 'the best Open Studio event we have been to in years'! Now we just have to find the time to recover before next year's event!
